Noisy Cricket

MiB films Noisy Cricket.

I feel like I'm gonna break this damn thing!
Agent J

The Noisy Cricket is a small, palm-sized firearm of astonishing power.

Description[]

Despite its size, the Noisy Cricket launches a giant orb of energy. It can level a truck or blast through five feet of concrete. Few agents get the hang of holding the gun properly to minimize its recoil, which can hurl fire across the room. When fired, the Noisy Cricket makes a sound similar to a cricket, hence the name of the weapon.

History[]

Clash with Edgar the Bug[]

Noisy Cricket Silencer

Agent J applies the "silencer" to the Noisy Cricket.

Fighting Edgar the Bug, Agent J is given the Noisy Cricket by Agent K as his first weapon. He reluctantly carries it, believing he will break it due to its small and delicate appearance. When Edgar the Bug escapes from Gentle Rosenburg's jewelry store, Jay tries to stop him, firing the Noisy Cricket and, with the powerful recoil, gets thrown backward every time, firing three shots. Despite its immense power, the agents do not use it in the final battle with the bug.

Clash with Serleena[]

During the clash with Serleena, Agent J ironically gives the neuralyzed Agent K the Noisy Cricket instead. As a joke, he tells him that "he (Kay) always loved the Cricket." After Agent K is deneuralyzed he shoots off Jeeb's head with it and, after regaining his memory - kills some aliens, saving Agent J.

Other assignments[]

On other different assignments, Jay still uses the Noisy Cricket with the same devastating results (although in the second season of Men in Black: The Series, he applies a "silencer" to it, which nullifies the kickback from the recoil).

Trivia[]

AgentKwithNoisyCrickettoy

Agent K toy figure with Noisy Cricket.

  • A (roughly) full-size toy of the Noisy Cricket comes in the "Cosmic Quick-Shift Agent K & Noisy Cricket" figure. Pulling the toy gun trigger, it makes an iconic sound. Also, it can get transformed into the "Plasma Hopper," where the Agent K figure can get placed on.
  • In the video game Saints Row IV, there is a weapon named the Tiny Pistol based on the Noisy Cricket. The only design variant for the Tiny Pistol is the "Loud Locust" - an apparent reference to the Noisy Cricket. The Tiny Pistol uses an RPG weapon slot and fires a destructive orb, sending the protagonist flying back due to recoil.
  • In Men in Black II, after Agent K is deneuralyzed, he shoots Jeebs' head off with the Noisy Cricket, but it does not fire a giant orb of energy, nor does he feel the recoil firing the devastating weapon lying on the floor. Apart from being a goof, the weapon could have the option to control its discharge, which Kay could be aware of.
